Lesson 2: Trusting God’s Promises

Proclaiming the gospel is perfectly unnatural.

It is 100% contrary to our human nature. Here is a good example.

After worship service on Sunday morning, the pastor gives an announcement. He extends an invitation to all members to join him next Saturday morning to go door-to-door in the neighborhood. There is a clipboard in the back of the church for people to sign up. How many people do you think would arrive on Saturday with eager anticipation?

Our human nature could easily come up with one hundred excuses not to come to church on Saturday to join the pastor and go canvassing.

Fulfilling the great commission that Jesus gives to all believers is not difficult — it’s impossible.
