Good Friday
What mystery is there to reveal,
What freedom can there to steal;
When the Son of Man
Stretched out His hand
Without complaint and ne’er appeal.
Who goes before us in our place?
To stand alone, to end the race.
That through His death
His one last breath,
Be forgiveness, peace, and grace.
The lost pursue glory not willing to learn,
That righteousness with God cannot be earned.
That this is the day,
To remember, to weigh.
One sacrifice was made to complete heavens yearn.
For God did not send down His Son
To condemn, nor oppose what need be won
At the cross it was paid
Our debt need not delayed
By faith we receive peace — it’s finished, it’s done.
Dave Malnes
“Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”
