A Natural Overflow: Why Wisdom Leads Us to Others

There is a unique kind of confidence that comes from knowing the end of your story. When you trust in God’s promises, your citizenship in heaven is already secured. You aren’t working for an inheritance; you are living from one.

This security changes how we see the world. Proclaiming the Good News is no longer a chore or a box to check; it is the natural, inevitable overflow of a heart that has been transformed by grace.

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.” (Proverbs 11:30)

In nature, a thriving tree doesn’t labor to grow fruit; it simply happens because it is connected to a life-giving source. Our faith operates the same way. When we are attached to the Vine and nourished by the Living Water, the results are visible.

A strong inner faith produces outward fruit. Because of Christ’s righteousness, we reflect his character. Because of his faithfulness, we remain steady. When life gets chaotic, we respond with patience and gentleness that doesn’t make sense to the world—and that is exactly what makes people stop and look.

Wisdom in Christ isn’t just about what we know; it’s about how we treat those who don’t yet know him. Being “gospel intentional” today means:

• Active Awareness: Recognizing the people Christ has placed in our digital and physical circles.
• Bridge Building: Creating genuine connections rather than just waiting for an opening to speak.
• Bold Vulnerability: Sharing the reason for our hope in Christ with honesty, especially when life is hard.

The Book of Revelation promises a literal Tree of Life in the world to come, but Proverbs tells us we are to be a “tree of life” right now.

Think about a branch heavy with fruit. It doesn’t stand tall and out of reach; the weight of its abundance bows it down toward the ground. That is a beautiful picture of a mature believer. We shouldn’t be conceited or inaccessible. Instead, we are called to be low-hanging fruit—humble, accessible, and ready to be consumed” by those who are spiritually hungry.

Our purpose isn’t to be a trophy on display, but a source of nourishment for the unrighteous so they, too, might discover the wisdom of God.

A wise believer understands that our primary mission is to bring as many people to the table as possible. We are the servants sent out to the country roads and city streets with a simple, urgent message: The banquet is ready.

The doors are open, the table is set, and the invitation is for everyone. Let our lives—and our lips—reflect the beauty of Christ.
