Proclaiming the gospel can start with a song

Songs begin from the heart. They register profound sadness from broken hearts, spur revolutions as a call to action, or convey deep, transparent love to woo hearts. Proclaiming the gospel can start with a song.

“Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.”               Psalm 96:1-3

A cleansed heart sings new songs. With full confession of our sins, the complete absolution of them, and a heart brimming with confidence and assurance that the Lord forgives and forgets, we pour forth songs of gratitude. Fear dissolve when we declare the name of the One who has rescued us. Boldness is intensified when we speak of His glory. Our purpose in life is affirmed when we witness about his marvelous deeds to others.

Songs are honest, natural outpourings from our hearts. With praise on our lips, we can’t help but to proclaim His name to others.

We can pray:

“Lord, may the song from my heart be reflected to others. Grant me your spirit of boldness instead of my own timidity, so that my actions alone will not be my testimony, but used as bridges to confidently proclaim your message of salvation. This is what you desire. And if I still feel restrained to witness, may that prompt me to confess. Renewed by your spirit, may I sing a new song with a refreshed, forgiven heart. They are words that the world desperately needs to hear, because they come from Your heart. Amen.”

One of the mysteries of faith that we have a difficult grasping is the redeemed life in Christ. For only in Christ and through Christ, can we proclaim Christ. Songs register the joy that we have in Christ and prompts us share this joy to make it complete.
