The Word made flesh empowers believers with the gospel

Words are powerful. They hurt, implore, and inspire.

Out of love, God sent His Word to bring salvation.

The Word became flesh so that all people may receive the Truth and the Life. The Word is that powerful.

The Word is so important that God became flesh. It is the same Word that empowers believers today.

Christian believers ponder and marvel at the beauty and the significance of the Word. We consciously press the pause button in our busy lives and escape from the myriad of problems that affect us to receive His Word.

Trusting God means to have full confidence that God’s promises are true – that His Word works in powerful ways.

God’s Word is His message to the world. He entrusts believers with the message. He sustains believers with the message. And He empowers believers with the message.

God’s Word are texts from the heavens above — instant messages for a suffering world that is engrossed in the darkness of sin.

In a time of uncertainty and insecurity, people look for hope. The Apostle Paul was living in a time of persecution and anxiety. The Holy Spirit inspired him to bring words of comfort to the new Christians in Thessalonica. With one knock on the door – one accusing finger pointing in their direction – they were risking their lives and all their material possessions. He wanted to remind them of God’s  promises and how He works through those promises.

“And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

Words meant for our comfort can be difficult to receive when we are comfortable.

In these times of material wealth and plenty, contentment can be fleeting. With stomachs full and savings secure, words filled with worry and strife tend to dominate the conversations in our heads. When our pantries are full and threats are minimal, we tend to ignore God’s pantry that produces fruit that truly satisfies. We tend to turn away from the Living Water that quenches our thirst.

Our human flesh dwells on our words rather than go to the Word.

The Word became flesh and saved us from our sins.

The Word produces faith through the power of its message and produces faithfulness so that we may remain in Him.

The Word made flesh dwells in the hearts of all who believe in him. His Word is at work, so that he may produce fruit within us, comfort through us, and security for us. This is all received through the power of His promises.

The new Christians in Thessalonica clung to the Word. It is these same Word that believers cling to today.

It is the same Word we place our trust for 2017.

The Word works. Trust in Him.
